Spending

I believe that American taxpayers are entitled to know everything that the government does with their money. Our government should spend taxpayer's money wisely and be accountable to the citizens.

During times of economic hardship, when families and businesses are cutting their spending to survive through hard times, politicians on Capitol Hill continue wasteful spending of money we don’t have - our government borrows 40 cents for every $1 it spends and our national debt currently exceeded $15.5 trillion.  Such staggering debt is a threat to our country’s freedom, national security and political stability.  We cannot pass this debt liability onto the future generations.  We must balance our spending that will allow us to stop accumulating new debt and gradually pay off the existing debt.

Visit this page of U.S. Treasury to see the exact amount of our debt as of today.

The fiscal policy of the past decade years led to a deficit crisis that threatens solvency of our country, leaving the next generation with less prosperity and opportunity than we had.

As your fiscally-conservative voice in Washington, I will work to reform our fiscal policies to restore American prosperity.  We should not simply target our budget for spending cuts; we must adopt a new way of looking at how government operates.  To restore public trust, Congress must stop the culture of spending and refocuse its priorities on our nation’s growth.

I support streamlining of government services and believe that every federal agency’s performance must be reassessed for cost, benefits and efficiency.  Reforms must be implemented in government agencies to decrease costs and increase efficiency and taxpayer's satisfaction. Additionally, constructive and effective reforms of entitlement programs that will eliminate abuse are necessary to ensure that these programs can be sustainable and people in need can rely on them.

There are many unnecessary government spending items.  We must identify and eliminate all unnecessary and wasteful expenditures.  It can be done without negatively affecting the delivery of government services.  Coupling elimination of non-essential and wasteful expenses with measures that stimulate economic activity will reduce spending while increasing tax revenue without tax rate hikes.  This approach will allow us to balance the budget and stabilize our finances.

I am deeply committed to restore America by finding solutions that require courage and common sense and working with any reasonable person to implement them.

I will support the initiatives that limit government spending and consistently reduce our debt over time, make Social Security solvent, preserve Medicare for our seniors, maintain a safety net for the poor and provide for sufficient and effective defense and security.

I will strongly and vocally oppose increases of the federal debt limit that come without legislation to balance the budget in a timely and effective manner.

Additionally, I will support and advocate for the following measures to end the tax-and-spend culture in Washington such as: permanent earmark ban, ban on new spending in any year that is not included in the budget, elimination of government programs that unnecessarily duplicate state programs, and reduction of waste.
